SAN ANTONIO (KTSA News) – We’re paying a lot less for gasoline in San Antonio than we were at this same time last year.
AAA Texas reports the statewide gas price average in Texas is $2.58 for a gallon of regular unleaded fuel. That’s down a penny from last week and 12 cents lower than the same time in 2018.
“San Antonio drivers again are paying the lowest prices in the state,” said Josh Zuber with AAA Texas.
The price at the pump in the San Antonio area is averaging $2.41 a gallon, 4 cents lower than last week and a 19-cent drop compared to this time last year. The biggest difference in the price today compared to one year ago can be found in El Paso, where drivers are paying 27 cents less for a gallon of regular unleaded.
Zuber says this is the first time in three months that gas prices have shown consistent signs of declining, but don’t expect the drop to continue.
“We could see gas prices increase as we watch the trade war with the Chinese tariffs. We’ve got warmer weather, so people will be out doing more driving,” said Zuber.
Drivers in Midland are paying the most on average at $2.76. The national average price for a gallon of regular unleaded is $2.86, which is two cents less than this day last week and four cents less than the price per gallon at this same time last year.
