Finebaum reacts to Tom Herman out, Steve Sarkisian in at Texas

The University of Texas moved swiftly over the weekend, firing head coach Tom Herman after four seasons and introducing Alabama offensive coordinator Steve Sarkisian as its new coach a few hours later. The decision came as a result of a postseason review following the Longhorns’ bowl game, according to athletic director Chris Del Conte, who said the program felt it was in its best interest to look in a different direction.

ESPN college football analyst Paul Finebaum offered his initial thoughts on the happenings at Texas this week.

“I just think it shows you the absolute disgust at Texas for Tom Herman,” Finebaum said Monday on WJOX FM. “I can use a line of parallels here, and people can imagine it any way they want. But Texas went shopping for Urban Meyer. Had Urban Meyer said yes, Herman would have been gone three weeks ago. They couldn’t get Urban Meyer. Herman sat there and fumed. We even had an interview with a guy who claimed that Herman was trying to get the South Carolina job, which sounded like a stretch.
